Calling it a Day Sunday, Jun 15 2008

He’s with the third leg of his journey.

His trip today started off with some bad weather, but quickly turned into an enjoyable day. He left Indiana and headed up into Michigan along Route 12 and then the Red Arrow Highway. He was joined for part of the trek by Marilyn and Ron Kulak.

He tells me that he saw 101 things today and was struck by just how many beautiful sights there are along the way. He feels like he appreciates the scenery in a way that you can’t when you’re driving. He found himself pausing sometimes just to take in the view. There are so many things we never see and it’s important to get out and walk sometimes so that you can see some of them instead of whizzing by.

His cumulative three day total is 71 miles.

Morning Check In Sunday, Jun 15 2008

Many of us in the Chicago area saw storms roll through this morning. Berrien County, Michigan where he will be is under a Thunderstorm Warning this morning. He did wait out one storm in Long Beach, Indiana this morning, but like any good scout he’s well prepared with his poncho and will seek shelter if necessary. Hopefully the worst of the weather is past him for a while, I know I’m looking at a blue sky right now so perhaps it will move his way soon.

A New Day Dawns Sunday, Jun 15 2008

He’s off again.

I spent a large chunk of yesterday trying to learn enough javascript to be able to embed a static API map (makes your head hurt just thinking about it) and I still only get a broken image when I try to post the actual map. I’ll keep working on it, I don’t understand why I could post maps for a couple of days. But for now here’s the link to his route today. Click here for map
